I believe strongly in transparency and accountability for our elected officials. It was recently learned that our PART-TIME City Council have been quietly receiving for years BENEFITS which include, FULL Medical, Dental, Vision, and Retirement! This is along with a stipend and additional pay they receive for sitting on county boards. The cost of these perks have cost "RSM TAXPAYERS" hundreds of thousands of dollars!
Their pay and benefits have been hidden from RSM residents until now. In 2010,
the OC GRAND JURY released a "Compensation Study of Orange County Cities"
after the scandal in the City of Bell. The City of RSM, when it came to content,
clarity, and transparency about government compensation, received a "D" the
lowest grade given!

Our council recently reformed and lowered the benefits for the cities full-time employees, but chose to not touch their benefits. Our council members have full-time jobs and WE SHOULD NOT BE FUNDING THEIR MEDICAL AND RETIREMENT!
Currently, council members who receive all permissible compensation are
allowed monthly benefits for their part-time position totaling $1,378.47 in addition
to a monthly stipend of $463.50. These benefits, if not used for the purposes of
health insurance premiums, can be placed into a 457 retirement fund similar to a
401k totaling $66,166.56 in a four year term.

If elected, I will vote with Councilmen Baric and Councilmen Petrilla and immediately end this PERSONAL GREED and ENTITLEMENT. I believe the council should be willing to serve as a public service and for the amount of their monthly stipend of $463.50. Our planning commissioners serve and earn only $75 per meeting.
I respectfully ask for your vote for City Council.
